Step 1 - Confirm Eligibility and Property Details
The District stores approved building permit plans in digital records through Permits and Inspections. Requestors can be:
- Property owner
- Owner's agent
- Strata corporation
Prepare the civic address and requestor details before submission.
Step 2 - Complete Required Forms
Complete and sign the House Plan Request Form.
If the requestor is an owner's agent or strata corporation, include a completed Registered Owner's Authorization Form.
Step 3 - Submit Request by Email
Send the completed request package to plans@westvancouver.ca.
Upon receipt, staff will email instructions to complete the online application and payment process.
Step 4 - Pay Fees and Receive Files
Current guidance:
- Single family or duplex: $130.00 + GST
- Commercial and multi-family: $275.00 + GST
After payment, plans are sent via secure file-sharing link. Requests are processed by date payment is received, and timelines vary by request volume.

You can request a Property Search Comfort Letter from the District. This letter provides available permit and property-status details, but does not include copies of plans.
- What it can include: Permits issued, occupancy date, outstanding work orders, zoning information, and Board of Variance applications.
- Submission: Email comfort letter request with Registered Owner's Authorization to plans@westvancouver.ca.
