No Drawings on File? Request a Comfort Letter

A comfort letter is a summary of property information based on City of Langley records. It is commonly used when drawings are missing and you need confirmation of what is on file before moving forward with a renovation.

  • What it includes: Zoning classification, active business licences registered to the property, issue dates and descriptions of major building permits on file, and details of the most recent fire inspection.
  • Fee: $200.00 including taxes.
  • Processing time: Typically within 10 business days from receipt of both request and payment.
  • Submit by email: Send a written request to planning@langleycity.ca. Planning staff will provide credit card payment instructions (2.2% processing fee applies).
  • Submit by mail: Development Services (Comfort Letter Request), 20399 Douglas Crescent, Langley, BC V3A 4B3, with cheque payable to "City of Langley".

If no drawings exist and a comfort letter is not sufficient for your project, Canadian Blueprint can accurately reconstruct your floor plans so your renovation or addition can move forward with confidence. See As-Built Measuring for more information.
